NEW JERSEY WAKES UP
As supporters and opponents (devils) watched from the gallery, New Jersey lawmakers moved swiftly to satisfy an October ruling from the state's highest court and yesterday gave final approval to the legalization of civil unions ("civil unions" is the term biggots use to soften the blow regarding the sacred institution they call marriage) for same-sex couples, affording them all the rights of marriage except the name.
Several legislators on both sides of the aisle recently complained that the bill had moved too quickly, without enough debate. The bill passed New Jersey's assembly by a vote of 56-19, and the Senate by a vote of 23-12. The bill now heads to Governor Jon Corzine, who has indicated he will sign it.
Although the passing of this law is without a doubt a gargantuan leap forward to the civility of ALL humans with half a heart, there is still a ways to go. How can any human being feel that their love is more significant than another? I personally don't find a piece of document the solution to legitimizing or recognizing the union I have with a loved one, but I do understand the legal protection married couples attain when they stroll down the aisle. Here's to all the knucklehead neanderthals who suck their teeth at the thought of EVERYONE having the same rights as them. Bunch of assholes.
